The Salt Lake Astronomical Society (SLAS) is a nonprofit corporation formed in the state of Utah.  We're composed of about 200 members wishing to enjoy the pleasures and benefits of an association of persons interested in astronomy.

We're here to:
promote astronomy
encourage public education and interest
coordinate activities with professional research

Monthly meetings are:
every 3rd Wednesday of the month at the University of Utah's Engineering/Mines Classroom Building, Room 105 at 7:30 p.m. (Except December).  Non-members are welcome to attend the meetings, however we'd love to have you join the club!

Click for Salt Lake City, Utah Forecast We have a beautiful facility at Stansbury Park called the Stansbury Park Observatory Complex (SPOC) consisting of the Harmons Observatory, which houses two large reflecting telescopes, and the Donna Pease Wiggins Refractor House which houses a large refracting telescope.

We hosted ALCON 2002  in Salt Lake City, July 31 - August 3, 2002. We also hosted ALCON at Bryce Canyon National Park, June 29 - July 2, 2011.
You can read about how great it turned out in 2002 here.

SLAS is governed by a constitution and a yearly elected Board of Directors consisting of:
president
vice president
secretary/treasurer
two board members.
We also have some positions that are appointed by the Board.
